High Iron Meal Plan
A 2,000 kcal week that pairs iron-rich foods with vitamin C. Use it for iron-deficiency risk or higher iron needs. It is not a treatment for anaemia on its own.
What iron does
Iron sits in haemoglobin, which carries oxygen. Low iron means fatigue, weakness, and poor concentration. It also supports muscle metabolism, some hormones, and immune function.
Iron deficiency
Iron deficiency is common worldwide. When stores are too low, the body cannot make enough healthy red cells, which is iron-deficiency anaemia. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, pale skin, and poor concentration. Long-term deficiency also hits cognition and immunity. This week raises dietary iron. It does not replace supplements when a clinician has prescribed them.
The 2,000 kcal high-iron week
Iron-rich meals sit next to vitamin C foods so non-heme iron absorbs better. Still not a treatment for anaemia. Pair it with medical care and supplements if labs say so.
- Iron from lean meat, poultry, seafood, beans, and fortified cereal.
- Vitamin C from citrus and broccoli next to plant iron, so more of it is absorbed.
- The rest of the micronutrients still in the week. Iron is the focus, not the only nutrient.
- Change portions and foods in Foodzilla.
