ADHD Support Diet Plan
A week built around protein, omega-3s, and fibre-rich, lower-GI carbohydrate. Food will not treat ADHD. Regular meals can stop a blood-sugar crash from making symptoms worse. Edit it in Foodzilla.
ADHD and food
People with ADHD often skip or delay meals. Then they are ravenous and grab whatever is closest. Blood sugar drops, irritability rises, and symptoms look worse.
A set meal schedule plus a mixed plate can flatten that swing. That is the job of this week.
What goes on the plate
Each meal needs protein, carbohydrate, and unsaturated fat so energy lasts. A skipped meal or a carb-only snack is how the afternoon crash happens.
- Carbohydrate. Whole grains, vegetables, or fruit.
Protein is used to make neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, which matter for focus and impulse control. A protein source at each meal also steadies glucose.
Omega-3s support brain membranes. Low intake is linked with ADHD in some studies. Sources: salmon, mackerel, sardines, walnuts, flax, chia. If food cannot cover it, discuss a supplement with the clinician.
Fibre and lower-GI carbohydrate slow glucose release, which keeps energy and cravings more even.
A structured week
Reminders or a written plan beat relying on hunger, which often arrives too late.
