High Protein Meal Plan
A 2,000 kcal week built around higher protein for satiety, recovery, and body composition. Set the protein target from body weight and training load in Foodzilla.
Why raise protein
Protein supplies the amino acids used to build and repair muscle, make hormones, and support immune function. Raising it in an otherwise balanced diet tends to help in a few practical ways:
- Muscle growth and repair. Amino acids from protein rebuild muscle after strength work or other training.
- Satiety and weight management. Protein keeps people fuller for longer, which often cuts snacking and total calories.
- Metabolic cost. The thermic effect of food is higher for protein than for carbohydrate or fat, so more energy is used to digest it.
- Blood sugar. Protein slows the rise and fall of blood glucose after a meal, which matters for diabetes and for afternoon energy crashes.
- Nutrient density. High-protein foods often bring iron, zinc, B vitamins, and calcium with them.
The 2,000 kcal high-protein plan
Protein is set at around 30% or more of daily calories. The rest comes from carbohydrate and fat in amounts you can move. Protein sources rotate through lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy or dairy alternatives, and plant proteins such as beans, tofu, and lentils.
- Muscle support. Enough amino acids for repair, not only on training days.
- Appetite control. Higher protein meals are harder to overeat than high-carb, low-protein plates.
- Still a mixed diet. Vitamins, minerals, and fibre stay in the week, not only protein.
- General use. For clients without a medical reason to restrict protein.
- Recipe mix. Enough variety that the same chicken breast does not appear every night.
- Easy to change. Swap protein sources or raise the target in Foodzilla.
