Anorexia Diet Plan: Meal plan for anorexia recovery

A 2,700 to 2,900 calorie week for supervised anorexia recovery. Use it under a clinical team. Change calories as restoration progresses. Watch for refeeding syndrome.

What this week is

About 2,700 to 2,900 calories a day. Actual need depends on current weight, recovery stage, and medical status. Some people need more. Some need to start lower to reduce refeeding risk, then step up.

- Mixed meals. Carbohydrate, fat, and protein at each sitting.

- Nutrient-dense food so the calories are not only energy.

Calories in anorexia recovery

Needs vary with starting weight, severity, and how the person responds to refeeding. Some people need 70 to 100 calories per kilogram. A 40 kg patient at 70 kcal/kg needs about 2,800 calories a day.

How to use it in recovery

Regular meal times help digestion and give the day a shape.

Include nutrient-dense meals and small treat foods every day. Both matter for intake and for the relationship with food.

Each meal should have carbohydrate, fat, and protein. Snacks should have at least two of those.

Fear foods need a written list and a slow reintroduction in a supported setting.

If weight is not moving, or hunger is still high, raise portions or add snacks. The first week may need to start lower to reduce refeeding risk.

Review weight, labs, and mental state, then change the week.

Ask what they will actually eat. A plan they hate will not be followed.

Only with clinical supervision. Step calories up as it is safe. Introduce fear foods on purpose. Change meals for tolerance.
